hooray for me

Hey people!

I am so very grateful to those of you who read my blogs. I am sick right now, I wish I wasn't! Though I'm sure I'll be in tip top shape for Thursday night, the night of the Party Time with Austin and Matt!

 I have known Austin for over 10 years. Great old friend of mine. We will be playing some music. I'll be on drums, and he will be playing some loud ass chunky guitar!

Today I taught my classes. I probably should have called off. I explained to the kids that the lesson of the day is that when you are a grown up, you can't stay home sick. Who would have taught guitar class today? I think it sucks a lot that I am sick again. It is a terrible cough, I feel like my lungs have stuff in them. At least I am not smoking anymore. Hooray for me!

Some people may be aware that a group I perform in, the Ill Itches, will be having a record release this Friday at the Marble bar here in Detroit. The band has done several interviews where the interviewer emails the band questions and we each answer them. In one such interview, all of my answers were omitted, and I heard from the other band members the music journalist got mad because I didn't take the interview seriously enough. That time I bought a Guitar for $1 at Guitar Center

When I had just graduated high school, I was still working my job at a grocery store. I made enough money to go guitar shopping. I used to drive from rural Lenawee county to Toledo OH to get to Guitar Center. One day I heard a radio ad for a Guitar Center Labor Day Sale on September 5th, 2005. At this point in my life, Guitar Center was something I had only recently discovered. This ad was extra special... the loud demanding voice on the radio ad claimed Guitar Center was going to be selling guitars for just $1! The night before the sale, I drove down to the Guitar Center and arrived at about 10:30 pm. I began waiting at the front door of the business. I remember texting some of my friends from the grocery store I worked at, they ended up joining me about an hour later. Then, two other small town guys that went to my high school showed up randomly.
